Our 7 step process to Aged Care

When the need for Aged Care arrives, it can often cause stress and sometimes put unnecessary strain on family relationships. Our sole purpose is to step in and guide the whole family through the process of moving into aged care.

With some good planning and open conversations, we can have you all focusing on what is most important – quality family time. Read through our brief overview of the 7 step process below or reach out to us directly and we can go through it with you.

We’ll simply start with a family conversation where we will have an open discussion about options, concerns and you can all decide who will be involved in the whole process.
There are a range of Aged Care options in Australia, from in-home care to residential communities. We will help arrange an ACAT / ACAS assessment so we can establish exactly which government subsidised services are available to you.

If a residential care community is the path you will be taking then it’s time to think about what is most important to you in choosing a location. We’ll work with you to decide based on a range of factors such as proximity to family, community, amenities, and your health care needs.

From there we will help you through the process of securing a suitable placement.

Understanding the future costs of your Aged Care does not have to be a daunting and complicated process. We will work with you to ensure you have full clarity and peace of mind when it comes time to move forward in your chosen care plan.

Whether we have been with you every step so far or you have made it to step 5 on your own, we will gladly provide a full review of your financial situation in order to give you individually tailored advice on how you can cover the costs of your future aged care.

We address many common topics such as

  • Taxation changes;
  • Selling vs. renting – your home;
  • Centrelink / Veteran’s Affairs pension;
  • Best use of surplus moneys;
  • RAD vs. DAP for your accommodation.
Planning for the future is an essential part of your future aged care plan. Often our clients benefit from a review of their Estate to ensure an up-to-date will, current ‘death benefit’ nominations on investments, and appropriate powers in place so that a trusted loved one can make decisions on your behalf should the need arise.
Once the time comes to initiate your Aged Care plan we can help you review any applicable agreements to ensure you are fully aware of your rights, entitlements, and obligations.
